A Lifelong Love for The Sea...

Born and raised on the shimmering turquoise waters of Biscayne Bay, Florida, Capt. Denis Renuart grew up with salt water in his veins and seemed destined for a life tied to the sea. As a boy, he spent countless hours fishing, diving, and exploring the Florida coast with his brothers and sister. On the night of the full moon, Denis and his brothers would hop on their bikes and head for the Snapper Creek Bridge, armed with long-handled dip nets and a gas lantern they hung from a bamboo pole over the creek. Before long, their flying nets filled their little cooler to the brim with fresh shrimp. Next morning, Grandma would call them into the kitchen to clean and sort the catch. Once they finished the work, the boys knew they were in for a feast. Cooking with Grandma planted the seeds of a lifelong passion for high-quality, honest seafood. Those early days taught Denis the importance of using fresh, simple ingredients. We use wild-caught shrimp from a sustainable resource— the kind Grandma would’ve been proud of.


The Journey Begins...

After college, Denis took his first major step into the seafood industry, leasing a small crab processing plant on Maryland's Eastern Shore with a close friend. They pioneered cooking and selling Jonah crab—an underutilized species—without chemicals or additives. Their products soon landed in Costco, various East Coast retailers, and a major stone crab restaurant in South Florida. This experience ignited Denis's mission to create clean, wholesome, and flavorful seafood products. His journey expanded globally, from building a fish plant in Guyana to consulting on seafood projects in Costa Rica, Venezuela, and Indonesia. Today, we're proud that ALL OF OUR PRODUCTION REMAINS EXCLUSIVELY BASED IN THE USA!.

Then came a pivotal moment: “Uncle Denis,” his nephew asked, “can you make it gluten-free so I can eat them?


A New Chapter: The Shrimp Burger!

In 2017, Denis returned to his roots, experimenting with old family recipes for crab and shrimp cakes. Then came a pivotal moment: his nephew's simple question, "Uncle Denis, can you make it gluten-free so I can eat them?" That sparked a big idea: to create a shrimp burger that was not only delicious but also keto-friendly and made with natural, gluten-free ingredients. Months of dedicated testing and tweaking led to a breakthrough: the development of the first HEALTHY SHRIMP BURGER of its kind.

With a clear vision, Denis teamed up with partner Paul Jasinski to launch Big Little Shrimp— a company dedicated to bringing healthy, sustainable, and seriously scrumptious shrimp creations to market.
